The Knoxville club was chartered in 1963 as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit in Tennessee, and we have been active ever since. We are dedicated to ENJOYING BOATING and enhancing boating skills. Our goal is to encourage and promote a high amateur standards of skill in the handling and navigation of boats, power and sail; to encourage and promote the study of the science and art of navigation, seamanship, and small boat handling; to develop and promote instructional programs for the benefit of members and the public; and to stimulate members and the public to increase their knowledge of and skill in boating through instruction, self-education, and participation in marine sports activities. The Knoxville club has members from Johnson City to Loudon, Tennessee.

Our club is part of District 17, with 363 members, including other clubs in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Huntsville (North Alabama), Music City (Nashville), Oak Ridge, and Vulcan (Birmingham). We periodically hold district meetings to share information about the entire area.
We are also a member of a national organization that supports our activities and develops our educational courses and seminars (see classes/ for details).
Our national organization has two websites. The site primarily for members is USPS, and the public site is America’s Boating Club. When the national organization was first chartered in 1914, it was called the United States Power Squadron (USPS). A better name for the current organization is America’s Boating Club, which reflects our current focus. We currently have 450 clubs in the U.S. and its territories with about 45,000 members.
